A Family Spirit
The Taittinger family has managed the Champagne House for nearly a century. Its aim has always been the pursuit of excellence. “Having our family name on a bottle places demands and responsibilities on every minute. The name on the bottle conveys both the skills and knowledge of the past and a commitment to the future”. Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger has embodied this commitment for 40 years, and today he shares it with his son, Clovis and his daughter, Vitalie who both work beside him in the day to day running of the Champagne House. Together, they create a very close-knit and complementary family trio.
Pursuit of Excellence
A champagne
house’s style lies at the soul of its wines , taking its energy from its roots,
its creativity and a legacy of knowledge. This underpins the strength and
special composition of Taittinger champagnes. This composition is the result of
a magical, intuitive and complex process, one which Pierre-Emmanuel, Clovis and
Vitalie Taittinger know how to create and sustain, supported by a tasting panel
formed from a rich pool of complementary talents.
The Vineyard
Attachment to the land, to those who care for it, and the constant monitoring of quality have always been the cornerstones of Taittinger’s quest for excellence, as well as the foundation for ensuring that its unique style is maintained. A love of vines and their careful cultivation is a prerequisite for the creation of great champagne. “In order to have gold in our bottles, we must first have gold at our fingertips”, as Vincent Collard, the Manager of Taittinger Vineyard explains. For nothing is possible without man's skills, knowledge, patience and determination, from working with the vines through to the subtle formulation of the blends...
Production
The
experience and passion of the winegrowers now gives way to the skills and
talent of the Cellar Master in selecting, and then delicately combining, the
potential of each vintage being used in the blends. Chardonnay is always the
main component used in the blends, and creates that original, defining
characteristic of the Taittinger Champagne House. It is this unique style,
which has been present since the outset; the style that the tasting panel
always scrupulously seek to maintain. But nothing is ever certain. “Our work is
based on humility and tranquillity”, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger once said.
Humility is required in the face of a living raw material which is the result
of the work of both nature and man, with no guarantees about how it develops
and what the result will be. Tranquillity is necessary for the patience and
long hours required for the perfect maturation of the wine and before it sees
the light of day.
Bruit Réserve, Sophistication and balance
Taittinger Brut Réserve is made from 40 % Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier, using perfectly matured grapes harvested from over 35 different vineyards. This subtle blend results in a light, elegant and balanced champagne.
The high proportion of Chardonnay (40 %), allows the Brut Réserve to reach its full aromatic potential after maturing for 3 to 4 years in the cellars. It is unusual for a non-vintage blend to have such a high quantity of Chardonnay, and this is what makes this non-vintage blend so balanced, consistent and world-renowned. It is an excellent champagne, suitable for any occasion.
