Some History
1880, OWEN MCGUIGAN, THE LOVE OF WINE BEGINS
Owen McGuigan, father of Perc, makes his home in the Hunter Valley. Working the vineyards to supplement his dairy farm income Owen always found time to invite friends over and share a glass or two. His pioneering spirit and hard work laid the foundations for the McGuigan family’s legacy.
1999, BAROSSA BOUND
The
McGuigan name is now found in the Barossa Valley. Drawing on over one hundred
years of winemaking heritage in the Hunter Valley, McGuigan makes a second home
in the world renowned Barossa Valley.
Today, ONE AUSTRALIAN WINEMAKER STANDS ALONE
McGuigan Wines’ outstanding IWSC success continues with our being crowned International Winemaker of the Year at the prestigious International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) in London for a record fourth time – a world first that sees our wines standing proudly alone on the world stage. After accepting the IWSC Best Semillon Trophy for the McGuigan Bin 9000 Semillon 2003 and IWSC Best Shiraz Trophy for the McGuigan Handmade Shiraz 2007, McGuigan Wines was again adjudged the world’s best by our peers – a remarkable achievement for Chief Winemaker Neil McGuigan.
